Project painting brasserie Savelberg De Koepel

Renée painted in two and a half days on six scaffolds “De Koepel” of chief kook Henk Savelberg at Voorburg. On a lilac foundation she painted 16 wantonly women with Henk Savelberg himself as the spectator of all this feminine beauty. After finishing this spectacular wall painting in a record of time Renée couldn’t walk for two days because of a terrible muscular pain caused by the numerous times she had to climb on and off the scaffolds.
“She characterized this project as Top sport.”
According to Renée this would at least produce some interesting conversations. Angels and landscapes with castles would vanish into the background.

The biggest challenge was working with scaffolds. Most practical seemed to keep her materials on the ground. It was the trick to have all of the colours she needed on her palette, otherwise she would have to climb down again. Somethimes she did have to go down to check if the proportions of the parts she already painted were correct. People who have dinner at the restaurant will only see the paintings from below. That asks for perspective attention.
The job had to be done in three days. She was a bit under stress of the circumstances, but it was a magnificent commission.
She also painted chief cook Savelberg in his cooks clothing with in front of him a woman who is seducing him with her posterior. The instruction was to do something with women. She choose wild, exciting ladies. In that way you prevent that such a wall painting becomes just a part of the “brasserie De Koepel”.

At the end of the project her hands were covered with plasters, paint and blisters.

Project painting Prince Willem-Alexander and his Maxima

Renée was commisioned by the “Haagsche Courant” to make a painting of crown prince Willem-Alexander and Maxima after the official announcement of the engagement of the couple.
The painting is one by one meter, acrylics on linen.

It is well-known that Renée paints very quickly, but she made this painting in a record of time of about three hours.

Renée painted Maxima in a tango dress and the prince in an orange suit. A perfect combination.
